Nothing Impossible?
Home > News & Events > Nothing Impossible?I would be embarrassed to admit to the number of time that I’ve thrown up my arms (at least figuratively) and said something to the effect: “This will never work out!” “That will never change!” “I will never be able to do this!” “This is a battle that will not go away!” etc., etc. You get the idea. You are likely all too familiar with similar phrases from your own lips. Isn’t it amazing how poorly we sometimes handle our difficulties when we take them on in our own strength and leave God out of the picture?
During one of those “fitful” times I was having recently the Lord shared these needed truths with me through the devotional booklet, “Wise Words” by Dan Krusich (out of print) I hope they are a blessing and encouragement to you as they were to me:
“When God commands us to do what we consider impossible, He is really saying, ‘You do your part and leave the rest up to Me.’ Since He is the One with whom ‘all things are possible,’ He knows nothing about our impossibilities His actions are not anchored in our abilities (Mt. 19:26).
Whenever we back off from what God expects us to do, we are really telling Him that He cannot give us what we need for doing it. Thus it becomes not a matter of our inability but of our unbelief. Because of the unbelief we are preventing the omnipotent God from displaying His omnipotence. We are telling Him that if we cannot do it, neither can He (Mt. 13:58).
When we look at what has to be done and then take into account our inadequacies, with Paul we will have to wonder, ‘And who is sufficient for these things?’ But we must not stop here but go on to what he said in the light of his insufficiency, ‘Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves, but our sufficiency is from God.’ Realizing our helplessness should drive us to relying upon god for His help (2 Cor. 3:5).
Not feeling like doing something that we know God wants us to do may be an indication that we are not depending upon Him as we should. Dependence on Him should bring about a total disregard of personal inefficiencies Those who look to Him do not have to look anywhere else.”
