There are so many, many times that I find myself needing help.  Lately it has often been the need for help with my laptop when it does strange things and shows various pop-ups that say “Error” or “this program is not compatible with such and such and will shut down.”  A few weeks ago everything disappeared from my screen and I could not find any files or programs; it was all gone, and I said “yikes, help, somebody please help.”  Well, no one in the house heard my cry but my wife, so I headed to the computer store and there I found just the help I needed and everything was soon restore back to normal.

We need help with various things quite regularly, whether it be help with the children, help with the dishes, help with a job at work, help with a medical need, help with a spiritual difficulty, and etc., etc.  In times like these, do we turn to the Lord and seek His help first?  I find myself at times turning to him last.  That ought not to be!

I find in my Bible multiple references and examples of God’s willingness and eagerness to help us with whatever our need is.  We read this in Isaiah 41:13-14:  ” . . . I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not;  I will help thee.  Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.”

Charles Spurgeon wrote this about God’s willingness and ability to help in his “Morning & Evening” devotional for January 16: “It is but a small thing for Me, thy God, to help thee.  Consider what I have done already.  What!  not help thee?  Why, I bought thee with My Blood, I have done the greater, will I not do the less?  Help thee!  It is the least thing I will ever do for thee; I have done more, and will do more.  Before the world began I chose thee . . .  I laid aside My glory and became a man for thee; I gave My life for thee; and if I did all this, I will surely help thee now.”

May our loving, compassionate, merciful God find us often at His feet crying out by faith, “Help Me!”  This kind of faith and dependence will please Him much.
