Home > News & Events > The Day of the Lord Will Come!8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some++ men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 2 Peter 3:8-10
We wonder how long it will be. How bad will things get before it happens? We think it can’t be much longer. Surely his wrath is about full and his fury will be unleased. Where is the Lord when we need him? When will he come? The skeptics mockingly ask, “Where is the promise of his coming?”
Things just continue as they were. The scoffer say, “Where is your loving God whom you say will make everything right, who will punish sin and reward righteousness? Where is he? You are deluded. Your God is a fairy tale and you are so stupid and gullible to believe such nonsense. What a waster of time and a waster of your life!”
But He is coming. His day his coming, and it is “his day.” Vs. 10 “The Day of the Lord will come!” It will come and He will come. And no one and nothing can stop it, and for those who are his enemies when he comes, they will forever be his enemies and they will perish. He will have the last laugh. Ps. 2:4—“He that sits in the heavens will laugh, he will have them in derision.”
“35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. 36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. 37 For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Heb 10:35-37
The day of the Lord will come! Are you ready for his coming? Are you ready to meet him? If you’re not ready right now, you are not ready. And if you are not ready spiritually now, when will you be ready? Ever? Will you be embarrassed when you stand before him? Will you be ashamed and full of sorrow?
“ . . . for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. 12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God. Romans 14:10-12
The day of the Lord will come. He said, he promised before he ascended into heaven that he would return, that he would come again. And so, the day of the Lord will come. May the Lord find each one of us always watching, looking and ready for his coming!
